-education, providing general assistance, idealistic, helping with new suffrage throughout South

-theories were combined by society
-if you are poor/rich it is because of your effort
-survival of the fittest

-New Deal: new foundations and social welfare starts
Parts of Social Welfare >Social Security The Social Security Act made the government the major contributor to income security. Three programs were created out of this act: 1) old age insurance (what we now call Social Security); 2) public assistance for the needy, aged, blind, and families with dependent children (the disabled were added later); and 3) unemployment insurance. There have been modifications since that time, but the basic programs remain intact.
-at 65, you start getting your social security back
-entitled if you are disabled, blind, needy, etc. (this must be proven)
-Uncle Lamar make take advantage of this system
-the amount of money isn't really significant, but it is decent
-it is tax payer money which is the problem! >Medicaid and Medicare
-Medicaid is for the elderly and those who are 130% below the poverty line
-Part A: starts at 65 Part B: If you pay extra monthly, it pays for special procedures, Part B-
Part D - Pharma plan

-funding from national government (8%), state governments (44%), local school districts (31%)
-how much money your district has determines the quality of public education in the area
